His Life Before War:
His father couldn’t go to war because he had to look after his apple farm. They all lived on the Robinson Farm, where Drylands winery is now. Merve’s two brothers didn’t go to war. He had lots of friends that went with him and he made lots there too. It was really hard for the wife and the three sons to leave their father for a long time.
Family:
He had three sons and a wife. The three sons all went to Rapaura school. Merve played lots of sports like tennis, rugby, road biking. His three sons:

When He Went To War:
He fought in World War 2. He signed up to go to war. He was a rifleman, and he came back with no injures. The war went for 3 years. Their main food they ate was: hard biscuits, warm water, and they smoked a lot (he never smoked before the war).They mainly died because of starvation and because they were really tired. The Japanese at the war were really cruel. They had to find their own way to the training camp and people would be in trouble if they didn't turn up at camp. World War 2 ended 70 years ago.
